ISIS Burns 45 and The World Community Sleeps

After burning Muath Al-Kasaesbeh to death folks were stomping mad. ISIS doesn't miss a beat and burns 45 Iraqis to death today. In the meantime, a bunch of Christian Egyptians are beheaded and this outfit snubs its nose at the World Community. One has to wonder how long this is going to go on before change is in the offing. I mean, ISIS is standing by its actions, shipping off video documenting their activities. The only indication of fear and/or shame is all the ISIS folks are hiding their faces.

Mick Jagger once sang "Just as every Cop is a Criminal . . . "

This was shared with me from a young (at heart) man in sunny Arizona. I live in the Albert Lea area and didn't catch this. Oh the times are a changing. Law Enforcement out there? Wanna share thoughts or concerns? I wrote JusThis and Brand of Justice long before this stuff got motoring. Just sayin' Regarding that last sentence, nope, I'd wager it's going on down there also.

(ABC 6 NEWS) -- A Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office deputy has been placed on paid administrative leave over allegations of misconduct.
Freeborn County Sheriff Kurt Freitag says Deputy Arnold Zuniga was put on leave following an investigation of alleged policy violation.
Sheriff Freitag says the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office is investigating to avoid a conflict of interest.  Details of the allegations have not been made public.
Sheriff Freitag says any further information would need to come through Freeborn County Administrator John Kluever.
The Albert Lea Tribune reports there is also a criminal investigation surrounding Deputy Zuniga, citing Kluever. ABC 6 News reached out to Kluever, but we're told he's out of the office until Tuesday.
“Since being in office I want to have a professional agency that the county can trust. I want to make sure we take the necessary steps to have a thorough investigation," says Sheriff Freitag.
Fillmore County Sheriff Thomas Kaase confirmed to ABC 6 his office is part of the investigation, but says it's too premature to comment on the specifics and whether or not it is a criminal matter.
Zuniga has been with the Sheriff’s Office since 2007

I am sure glad I have Sheriff Joe on the job here. None of this shit going on down here.

Ravishing Rick Rude

So I was asked at my last book signing if I was related to Ravishing Rude . . . Ravishing vs Singed & Seething Curt. I suppose his arms are arguably bigger than mine. He hailed out of St Peter and I married out of St Peter. He was tearing around Minneapolis same time I was. He died way to young. Rest in peace Rick.

See the similarities?

InjoyfulBookReviews

Ahh . . . this response from Yesterdays question!

Carolyn Injoy

Questions I have received after spending the years from 1979 to 2010 serving and protecting.

How truthful are people with cops? I could not believe the amount of flat out, blatant lyin' going on, all of the time. One night I received a tip that a guy who had a warrant on him was hiding in his mom's house. The warrant was issued after the guy assaulted his mother and then failed to show up for court. I responded and knocked on the screen door interrupting the mother, who was reading the bible at her kitchen table. She looked up and asked me what I wanted. I told her about the warrant and how the situation needed to be resolved. She said he ain't here. Sorry. I said I noticed ya reading the Bible there, you wouldn't lie would you? She said no, not me never. The truth is always the best policy. I then let her know I had seen her son run and hid in the room behind her, and that I could see one of his legs out of a bunch of cloths.

I came to realize people are truthful as long as it serves their purpose.

Really - Craig Stephen Hicks - Shooting Three Unarmed University Students?

One doesn't wonder too long on reasons why Deah Shaddy, Yusor Mohammad and Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha were put to death. Just peek into the cold, indifferent eyes of the Killer. When is the hate train gonna run out of gas . . . Craig?

Remorse? Nope just hate and so much self-righteous scorn.

Applebees or The Oasis, you be the Judge

Spent a long day in Libraries from Cresco to Spring Valley and on and on. Fell off the Interstate and landed in the 'Oasis Bar and Grill' in Dexter, Minnesota. Gotta say, in my travels, I love these little places, off the beaten path. Can't beat the bar burgers. Had a good time with the owners. If ya have a second, let me know one of your favorites in Omaha. Heading there shortly.

Another day in the life of Blogs . . . OpenMamba . . . JustThis

Couldn't have said it better myself! Thanks Umabin

The Dark Side of Law Enforcement

This novel is almost like a character study with some of the author’s philosophy thrown in to elaborate more fully what he is saying to the reader. Chimlyn, a hunk of a football player is considered a retard by his friends, but manages to attract one of prettiest girls in high school, Robin, who is a cheer leader. They marry and financially life is a struggle for them, but they are in love and face life realistically. Charles Paul Paullet, has always been a mama’s boy, subject absolutely to her will with a wimp of a father. He is forced to play the piano, but hides his sexual Urge, as he calls it, which rules his life. His mother selects as his wife Agnes, an extremely overweight teenager, whom he can’t stand, but plays the game because of his mother. Agnes has appetite for anything other than food so is unaware of his sexual weakness. Eventually Charles becomes the police chief of Normal and because as a teenager, he always carried his father’s badge, is nicknamed “Badge.” Martin’s mother was an alcoholic and she and he were always getting beat-up by the drunks she dragged home. But he chose to rise above that, became a policeman and married Lacy, an elementary teacher, and they had a good marriage. He was hired as a police officer in Normal under Badge’s supervision.

Throughout the story are events and actions that police are faced with everyday and in this story, the main villain is Badge because of his grotesque sexual hunger. He uses his authority as Police Chief to do whatever it takes to make himself happy and sometimes at the cost of hurting others, especially his underlings. Much of the language in this story is vulgar and although usual to men and teenage boys, in this story seems to be the common verbiage of the men. There are many flashbacks, which are ha

Chief-Rape & JusThis

Look, this Chief of Police was put away for 7.5 years two days ago. I  wrote JusThis a couple of years ago. How did I do it? I was a cop for many moons!

Green Bay Packer Letroy Guion should have read Brand of Justice!

I'm thinkin' Letroy felt a whole lot like Dub from Brand of Justice. You have an African American driving a 2015 Dodge Ram Charger. No racial profiling here because he's pulled over for having a tough time staying in his lane. Perhaps a squad following him didn't help. I suppose one could construe this as nitt-picky. How many traffic stops does this officer tally during a usual week like this?

Next the officer notes Letroy is acting strange. I can say, as a former cop, everyone behaves differently when their pulled over. Acting strange kinda seems subjective to me. Anyways, officers are human and human's are subjective. Next the odor of marijuana is detected. It has a strong odor and perhaps Letroy had smoked a joint.

Then a 'gigantic' amount of marijuana is found in a bag. I'm just not buying the term 'gigantic'. Three quarters of a pound of pot would not have garnered any attention what-so-ever if it was a run of the mill citizen who was arrested. Right? This term came from the media who immediately commenced with writing the story up. I explained how this happens all of the time in Brand of Justice.

Then an unloaded, cased, registered handgun is found in a bag with the pot. Ouch. The pot and the gun are both felonies. Really-felonies! You notice how the County Attorney gets rolling with the charges? It's called over-charging so plea bargains can be arranged.

Then I guess he had around $190 thousand on him. He plays in the NFL. This will be explained. Mark my words. His aggressive conduct did not result in any charges, so, I'm not going there.

What do I think? The Criminal Justice System and the Media feed off of each other. It's a game. Then the Lawyers and Courts get rolling. It all comes down to this . . . The Spirit of The Law was defeated by The Rule of Law. This will not amount in any incarceration, or at least, very little. This is the town where Sparky the Electric Chair was. They did away with that thing finally. Isn't it time citizens take a peek at their laws governing marijuana?

Tomorrow we'll discuss a Police Chief who should've read JusThis, Another story I penned. I was in law enforcement from 1979-2010 and figured it was 'hightime' (no pun intended) these stories were shared.

Curt Rude Works at McDonalds?

I suppose you're wondering how I find time to write my stories. Can't get no better than a Happy Meal and good book. How about I just supply a great story to go along with your order?

Making a difference as a Police Officer. Good-bye Mollie.

Monday we said goodbye to a wonderful family member. We rescued her 14.5 years ago and she was 16 years old when she was laid to rest. Mollie, you will be greatly missed. Thank you to Curt RudeJohn Muellerand the Austin PD for letting Cindy and I give her a home so many years ago. She brought us many years of happiness.

Always hard to say good-bye to a family member. It's memories like this that make a guy proud to have served as a police officer. Sorry about your lose Officer Crayne.

La Boulangerie Cafe, Veronica and Curt Rude

Okay, the Chicago Reader, in Chicagoland, is discussing Veronica and Curt Rude? What does this mean? Perhaps some Chicagoland readers could enlighten me here. I know a smart fellow from Skokie . . .

Bit of wisdom here . . . do something as in good today for someone . . . you'll feel better for it in the end.

Julie Seedorf

Met a great writer from Cozy Cat Press. Julie Seedorf has been writing Fuschia Minnesota Mystery's. She has stories out such as 'Granny Hooks a Crook'. You can check her out at Sprinkled Notes

And…the best part was a big Valentine heart that she called mystery candy especially for me. Of course I didn’t eat all of it there, it is sitting next to my bed for candy while I read. Thank you Book World and Sharon. It was so much fun and I met so many nice people.
Photo also of Curt Rude, author of Justhis and Brand of Justice, also signing books at Book World in Albert Lea.

Oh for the Love of Cover Ups and you thought JusThis was fiction!

In the end, the lady who speculated that the officer drew down on himself and almost shot her husband was relieved. Usually a grandchild is with the man and would have been standing where the bullet traveled. Has anything been learned from this incident? We'll never know because we are in a 'Love of Cover Ups' state of mind. A Lieutenant resigns, he is granted a couple of months of pay to just go away silently. Gotta keep that 'Love of Cover Ups' deal going.

When Chief of Police Philipp resigned to save the Department and Community any anguish over an affair he had that was that. The Mayor said something to the affect he had been harder on himself than the Community would have been.

A Department Head stopped in two days ago and we chuckled on that account. All the money the Chief wasted, resulted in all employees having to account for their phone calls whether it was sex driven or not. He speculated Philipp wanted to get caught. I disagreed. It was an obsession that turned into an addiction. I have all of the pictures and am considering posting them for your consideration. It happened in this place and it can and does happen in your place!

Canadian's asked for It!

Ivy's Bookshop
Add caption

Winter is a great time to curl up with a book. Ivy's is now offering Brand of Justice. Back in the lower 48, Book World of Albert Lea is running a special on JusThis and Brand of Justice. Barnes and Noble has both copies of course. Now lets see . . .

I suppose we should follow up on the sordid tale of the 'Goofiest Police Shooting never Heard About' in Small-town America tomorrow. Kinda crazy, but there are Cops on the force ain't never heard about this. Just think, this shooting occurred in this day and age. Man it's a shame so much of this stuff has to be swept under the rug. Let's hope the right people on the force know about this and have made it a learning opportunity for all involved.

Read On

Installments 1 - 9 are all here. Read away and let me know what you think.
