I am heading to the St. Paul Club and will be being having dinner with none other than Mr. Sorcery, who just so happens . . . edits for none other than John Sanford! Tough job, writing books but someone has to do it. Anyways, I had to indicate my preference for dinner. I'm having some kind of frenchy sounding chicken and steak.
Ethel Rohan, author of ‘Out of Dublin’ on Curt Rude's writing. "Overall, great writing style. Reminds me of Rushdie: internal, emotionally complicated, and dualistic. Delivered with a sensitivity and awareness that is underrated. In one word his work is Awesome!"

Tips
| I've always loved dogs and have always had one or more in my life. This little bugger is in D.C. - any guesses? |
Things I do when writing . . .
Tip #1 Dream up, realize or discover a storyline. I've seen all sides of policing and figure John Sanford has the cop running around kicking ass down pat. Lucas Davenport and Clint Eastwood you know. I figure cops are human, nobodies perfect, so cops make mistakes. That's where I've focused my effort.
Tip #2 Develop characters. Just think, somewhere someone is putting on a uniform who is the worst cop in the world. Has to be one of 'em out there, law of probabilities, you know.
Tip #3 Hone your craft or style. You can do this hanging out with writers, listening and reading a ton. Schools are out there.
Tip #4 Just do it!

Why do you claim to be from Normal?
I got it, you're from a company town and HORmel rhymes with Normal. Wow I'm impressed with this line of reasoning.

Coolest Thing Part 2
All-righty then . . . we have a tie! How 'bout playing with words??? That's cool, for example take this piece; The lit'le minds all followed the monied sow like sooo many pathetic, jingling, little piggy banks. They grunted in putrid pleasure - realizing it was feeding time. Yes! soon enough they'd be choking down on more than their fair share of the American Dream. So what kinds of imagery did that conjure up for you?
Special thanks to Arizona Mike for the photo! Remember you have a book to write!

Coolest Thing?
So what's the coolest thing about writing? It has to be the people . . . there're a ton of creative folks out there that have stories to tell. It's been great getting to know them.

Questions & Answers
How did you come up with your characters? I've hung out with some interesting folks let me tell you.
Am I gonna be in your next book? Maybe, if you're in possession of an interesting or unique life.
Aren't you afraid of getting sued? No.
You going to run for Mayor and straighten them out like you did our Schools? No.
What do ya think of Amanda Hocking? She's made millions writing about zombies-good for her!
Are you truck driving? No, I'm typing.
Is writing cathartic for you? Love is cathartic, like my wife, family, band-aids and oh yes . . . writing.
Why don't you move? I've thought about it, like hitting for like Lanesboro, how cool-huh?
Were you bummed out by what you had to deal with? Nope, I get bummed out at funerals.
Are you prejudiced? We all are, I hate roadkill, liver and onions and bored doctors wives.
Why do you story tell with such detail? Because I want to, it's my style I suppose.
What's your favorite wine? Anything red that comes in a box or something I made.
When are you going to write another book? Pretty soon, I suppose.
Who's your favorite President? Lincoln, he did right and was mocked and killed for his efforts.
Did you ever think you could write a book? I always figure a person can do anything they set their mind to.

Ominous Indeed . . .
Been receiving some disturbing info regarding a 15 year old suicide and the police response. Disturbing info from individuals who were apparently at the scene. Rest assured, I'm no longer doing police work, I'm writing and pursuing another lifestyle. The current Chief acts like he's afraid of his shadow when I'm around. So, obviously, I'd advise you take this up some other way, though, I fear you'll probably get no where. The system grinds on and on rolling over those seeking change to the status quo.

Do I Believe?
Oh no . . . the system of Justice has reached out to yours truly! It's stuff like this, my luck of the draw, that inspires me onward to the next 'unbelievable' tale. I get a kick out of the part . . . "Warning: Failure to obey a subpoena without being excused is a contempt of court and you'll be beat senseless. (Just kidding about the beating.) Them there threats are sure a great way to get started off on the right foot let me tell ya!

Squatters reading JusThis
So I decide to go over to a friends house to clean his swimming pool and I found a squatter using the property. He did not want to leave until he finished that damn book. Take a look and tell me if you know who this guys is? He told me he is famous as he has won a lot of Floating Races around the World. I'm guessing his first name is Daffy or Donald-Curt

Characters from JusThis
I'd put my characters up against any. Chief Pullet and his internet sexing. Martin havin' his heart in the right place and then getting stomped by the system. Agnes and her struggles with an upside down life. You bet . . . I'd put some of them characters up against any. Tom Sawyer was a friend of Samuel Clemmons. A Fire Chief from San Fran! How many of you knew that?

I didn't know you could read." Him-"I hadda read it, smartass, there was something in it, I heard, 'bout a mayor. I had to know what you were saying. God you were really hard on Kathy!" Me-"I didn't have a Kathy in the book . . . Tom." Him-"Yeah right, F * * k Y * * I mean come on, I wanted to help you when Philipp did his thing, but look what happened to Bonnie, when she helped Hecimovich out some."
