Always the first question at book signings. I was fortunate to have worked in another time and place. I mean . . . it wasn't the shoot first ask questions later deal. I always embraced the Community Based Model where you're a part of the community and not above it. In prior posts an officer called me out for being a part of the 'educated problem'. He was a veteran hell-bent on coming home every night and didn't shy away from the use of force. I made an attempt at educating him but ran into a wall. Then techology arrived and changed the game. I was saying all along it, technology, was going to be a game changer but he wouldn't have it. Pretty hard to say a guy was branishing a knife and threatening you when the video doesn't show it. 16 rounds later and a year under investigation until a judge demands the release of the video. The Chicago's Mayor is jumping up and down yammering on and on about change now. Anything to keep his job. Then we have Officer Slager pumping 8 rounds into the back of a man claiming they had fought over a taser. Once the video lands in the Station the investigators changed their tune. The guy shooting the video was afraid to go to the police. Can ya blame him? Community Based Policing is on the way back or at least we can only hope so. Remember . . . those who serve and protect you should be assertiveand not agressive.
Ethel Rohan, author of ‘Out of Dublin’ on Curt Rude's writing. "Overall, great writing style. Reminds me of Rushdie: internal, emotionally complicated, and dualistic. Delivered with a sensitivity and awareness that is underrated. In one word his work is Awesome!"

How does it feel to be an ex-cop and once a part of the problem?

Steve Avery & How Dustin Rowles got it Right!
This is what Dustin Rowles of PAJIBA had to say about Netflixs' "Making a Murder".
It's easy enough to do a Google search and ruin the ending, but the ending doesn't tell the real story, because the real story is about our messed up legal system and how it deprives the socioeconomically disadvantaged and the uneducated of the presumption of innocence
This is how I've been saying it for years. "False Arrest + Prosecutorial Misconduct = Wrongful Convictions". You see . . . the Ego + Money = Lawyers. Then pit a Poor Person against the endless resources of taxes while being judged by a Jury who have watched endless hours of NCIC . . . BINGO . . . the death of innocence is certain.

C'mon Man . . . The Sheriff is in Trouble
I had this to say way back in 2014. Now Sheriff Arpaio is being called out for Racism and Contempt of Court. If guilty . . . does he end up in Tent City? Wasn't hard to see this coming. Ego Ego Ego.
| Read in March, 2014 | |
| Format | Hardcover (edit) |
|---|---|
| Review | Good for Joe Arpaio for wanting to kick some ass and send the bad guys away to nasty, taxpayer, saving jails. Joe was fighting drugs for 30 years in Turkey, Peru and Mexico but it would seem the fight was lost. I wonder how much that cost the taxpayers. Now we have youngsters who want to get messed up on Ecstasy and dance. Raves. Anyways, I get the feeling Joe would want to send them all to Tent City before he headed home to pound some brandy. I think there is a place for Arpaio, but we have to balance that with some realistic, insightful thinking. Portugal has decriminalized the use of Ecstasy and opened up centers that test the stuff for users. Ecstasy is harmless if it's what its billed to be. In America, we have tough sheriffs fighting the war on drugs and our fellow citizens continue to die. I am not a Molly user but I'm anti-bullshit. All this war on that and toss 'em in jail and throw the key away just gets kinda sickening to me. Lets get real. Lets cut the bullshit. The message here just seems to be too much bullshit. Enough said? (less) |

Jesus and Muhammad Arm Wrestling allah Pattons' Plan
I dunno . . . what do ya think? If they could have just arm wresled with the winner taking all perhaps mere mortals wouldn't feel compelled to kill in the name of their god. I mean the likes of Robert Dear or Syed Farook wouldn't have had to happen in the first place.

Islam Coming to a Police Dept Near You?
This is the one thing that will spread to a town near you just wait and see.
This writer shared a very important view point. Think about it in our times. The Iranian Hostage Situation. The Wars. The Taliban is still a live and well and - and - and . . . I mean, where is the Solution?
But how can such a platform be created in a region that has been unable to overcome a 1,300-year schism in Islam, the Kurdish drive to create a country that the ethnic group has never had and the attendant complications mixed in by a plethora of other religious and ethnic minorities. The defeat of IS, if it happens, will not solve those deep and underlying divisions.
A final political solution likely will require the resettlement of large populations driven from their home territories by the Iraq war, the Syrian civil conflict and the expansion of IS. It will require compromises that haven't been made for centuries. It is a huge mission that will take a long time to accomplish - if it ever can be.
Just let in a few more of these nuts like our President demands and the seeds already planted on our shores will bear fruits.

Readers have Concerns regarding Micheal Marshall and John Parker but are told Nothing
From procedural problems in Great Falls with County Attorney John Parker to death and mayhem in Denver. I don't get how the establishment somehow circumvented the Data Practices that were the result of President Nixons' behavior. Ya remember tricky Dick . . . right? This is the big part of the problem. Public Officials refusing to be responsive to those they serve, protect and occasionally beat, shot and kill.
Michael Marshall was arrested for trespassing and disturbing the peace. He died in jail. His relatives are frustrated that investigators have offered them no info about what happened in the jail and won't let them view the video of the encounter. "Denver has refused to allow the Marshall family to view the video of the events leading to Michael's death. Denver has also refused to disclose the identities of other detainees who witnessed the events. Denver's lack of transparency leaves us to fear the worst."
John Parker who is elected by the people had this to say to them. "Parker said he could not provide comment on the pending disciplinary complaint against him."

And so it goes . . . The Death of Innocence
Words like this in the good ol' Star Spangled Banner . . . thro' the perilous fight - rockets red glare - bombs bursting in air - war and battles confusion.
John Wakefield, a soldier on Americas' side shared his thoughts on the Battle of Bad Axe. "It was a horrid sight to witness little childern, wounded and suffering the most excruciating pain, although they were of the savage enemy, and the common enemy of the country." This comment came after the wholesale slaughter of old men, women and children as they fled their homeland across the Mississippi River. The good old Cowboy and Indian Days were really something.
Let there be no doubt . . . War is Hell and all involved have their own stories to tell. What does America look like under the 360 Prism? Are we perfect and on gods side all of the time? Look back at them lyrics of the Star Spangled Banner before answering.

Book Signing to a Great Read
I'm at a bookstore discussing my stories. A book on the shelf caught my eye. 38 Nooses by Scott W. Berg. Read it. It'll change the way you sing our national anthem. An American Soldier, John Wakefield, had this to say . . . "It was a horrid sight to witness little children, wounded and suffering the most excruciating pain, although they were of the savage enemy, and the common enemy of the country." This during the slaughter of Blackhawk and his band of followers. So we butcher and then name an NHL Team after the foe?

Ex-OKC Cop Daniel Holtzclaw Guilty of Raping Black Women (WATCH)
Dec 11, 15 by EurPublisher 6 Comments
*Daniel Holtzclaw, the former Oklahoma City cop who was on trial for raping and sexually victimizing black and low income women, was found guilty on Thursday.
It wasn’t a pretty scene as Holtzclaw broke down like a baby sobbing as the verdict was read aloud in the courtroom. He was convicted him on 18 counts involving eight of the 13 women who had accused him; the jury acquitted him on another 18 counts.

Kristin Bantle Innocent
Steamboat had an officer face trumped up charges regarding drugs. Man this stuff hits me hard. Easy to identify with Officer Kristin Bantle.
This from Brand of Justice . . .
He tried to
remember most of the stuff correctly. He might’ve forgotten something or added
some other stuff but it would be on account of an accident. He had done it.
Scott ‘Tinkey’ Tinkersley had righted wrongs.
Dub lumbered up to
Tinkey and stared wordlessly.
“So you hear? That prosecutor done gone and set
you up. They, the cops, have it figured Toppan did it. They got all kinds of
evidence . . . man. Knife was in the truck, Rogers blood on it, everything.
They call that a misprision of justice or something . . . Dub.”Thursday, December 3, 2015

LA Shooting
Active Shooting as I write this. Isn't about time we consider thee ol' 2nd Amendment?! This is spookier than ISIS. I'm mean it seems like it's everyday.
Laquan McDonald dead . . . Officer Jason Van Dyke charged . . . Fellow Officers & Union supporting Van Dyke
As per yesterdays post . . . there is anger, a certain angst all over the matter of the cop in Chicago assassinating the kid on the street. Strong feelings resonate over the matter for both sides. The cop and the black man. 'Assassination' is the word I choose to describe what I observed from the dash cam by the way.
The questions that boom from my thoughts are as follows.
The questions that boom from my thoughts are as follows.
- Why was the tape suppressed for a year? I'm not buying the on going investigation. Common sense applied here . . . what new leads were being followed after a year?
- Did any of the others who were on the scene to serve and protect take exception to this incident? How is shooting a guy 16 times warranted? Simply spontaneous gun fire? Over kill? or lets consider this . . . how is the use of deadly force even warranted in the first place?
- Why did the prosecutor file charges minutes before the video was released?
- Was Officer Jason Van Dyke allowed to remain on active duty during this year long investigation? If so . . . weren't we all possible victims of his implementation of authority?
- Is the Union and supporting officers seeing the same dash cam video the rest of us have seen?
Corruption is and
always has been imbedded into the fabric of governmental systems. When a simple
truth is revealed that might be construed as threatening, action is quickly
taken to silence the voice of truth. The status quo must be maintained. Words
are used to confuse and impede. The reins of power are held tightly in the
hands of a few privileged individuals.
As the old saying
goes, power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. We are required to
confront our daily decisions with pride and determination, and we must see our
mistakes as life’s opportunities for learning. It is ignorance that binds evil
to goodness. When we hold others accountable for committing the wrongful acts,
then do those same things ourselves, we are hypocrites. It is, as it always
shall be.

Another Day Another Shooting
This from a guy who hails out of the Windy City. Thought provoking. Still one has to wonder why the officer who shot the man was on duty for a year until the dash cam video was forced to be released to the public and then, and only then, did the officer get charged. Did the other officers voice any concerns regarding the shooting? Was it an assassination?
Way to far for me to understand WHY. Watch the Video and learn what is on the front line.
Tearing lights of of Christ Trees and a Catholic Priest telling people to lay down in the center of Michigan Ave on Black Friday to stop traffic on one of the busiest shopping days. He is seen yelling Black lives Matter while holding back two things. There are more Black on Black shootings than White on Black shootings. There is a major Gang war going on in Chicago right now and all of these people are ignoring what is happening in there own communities so lets take it the streets and shout Kill the White Mother Fuckers.Monday, November 30, 2015
Trump isn't Afraid to Speak his Mind
This is me getting run over by another Republican. Anyways . . . the text in red was sent to me by a follower of this blog. To hear someone actually speak his mind is refreshing. It gets sickening watching everyone ducking the truth and running for cover. Not just politicians. I mean . . . Trump mentions people celebrating the Towers falling and gets lambasted. Love him or hate him, ya gotta appreciate his method of madness. Just think . . . some can't understand his popularity.
In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners' plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.
