Enjoyed The Snow Bear Reading event. Thanks for all the support.
Ethel Rohan, author of ‘Out of Dublin’ on Curt Rude's writing. "Overall, great writing style. Reminds me of Rushdie: internal, emotionally complicated, and dualistic. Delivered with a sensitivity and awareness that is underrated. In one word his work is Awesome!"

Just think . . .
about how many guilty people are left to wander around our neighborhoods. Writing for me is truly medicinal. As a former cop, I am haunted by the players in a system gone wrong.
NEW YORK (AP) — Author Alice Sebold publicly apologized Tuesday to the man who was exonerated last week in the 1981 rape that was the basis for her memoir “Lucky" and said she was struggling with the role she played “within a system that sent an innocent man to jail.”

Darrell Brooks anyone?
Too many lawyers and not enough common sense makes this sort of thing inevitable. Darrell Brooks is suddenly going to provide the attorneys in Wisconsin with one fine Christmas. Old joke goes like this . . . It was so cold in Wisconsin the attorneys had their hands in their own pockets. Ultimately the system failed Darrell. The system failed everyone but the attorneys. Show me the money!
The horrific events in Waukesha – which left five dead and dozens injured – have prompted questions about how law enforcement might have failed to protect the Wisconsin town.

I'm with you . . .
Four people were pronounced dead following an attempted traffic stop in Maryland, as a manhunt was underway in the state for two former police officers who were considered armed and dangerous. On Thursday night, police confirmed two of the deceased were the former officers.
damn shame this has to happen again and again.
Guess Robert Vicosa or Sergeant Bynum were hellbent on not being taken alive. The little ones were also shot. Wondering if the nay sayers are still chastising me for writing a story (JusThis) that could never happen.Thursday, November 18, 2021
Extra Extra JusThis Validated Again
California Highway Patrol up to no good silencing critics of JusThis!
“This was an outrageous abuse of police power by Officer Aguirre. He was in uniform, on duty, and used his power as a patrolman to detain and then sexually assault this poor lady. And he did it twice. On the same day. She was beyond scared,” said Dave Ring, who represented the woman along with attorney Neda Lotfi. The survivor is not being named by The Times as a victim of sexual assault. Aguirre was terminated after an internal investigation, records show.

A Ha-Ha Moment
Get this. I'm sitting in my studio and it hits me. I have a story stuck in my head. I'm going to share the process of putting it down on paper with y'all.

Readers . . . What it's all about!
I found one of your cards, and decided to give your writing a try. I kust finished The Gargoyle and really enjoyed it. I think I’ll try one of your longer books now.

JusThis in Colombia
Thanks for the interest! Pumped. Agreed. Police officers must be held to a standard or they become a part of the problem. I lived it. A Chief I served under, Paul Mark Philipp, was the first officer I ever seen resign because of 'an' affair to cover up a sexting sexual thing. My stories are realistic fiction that will bring to light things John Sanford's work won't touch.

Cork O'Connor
William Kent Krueger told me he named his protagonist 'Cork' because he kept popping up after setbacks. Now you've learned something so you can sleep tonight.

To answer your question PJ,
yes, Never a Child, exposes the truth as some would call it. Others, who put a bullet into the head of an unarmed girl, Malala Yousafzai, who was walking to school, would certainly disagree with this form of truth.

Asked this at most recent book signing . . .
What would you have done differently if you were in Jesus Christ's sandals? Taking self-esteem issues into consideration I would have said it this way . . . 'Love your neighbor as much as you love your dog or cat.' I would have never used the term 'thee' by the way.

Halloween Read
You ever get the feeling lawyers just don't get it? I mean, Bill Cosby walks. Mohamed Noor is set to be resentenced. The only thing an attorney has ever produced is an argument. Weiner represented Ted Bundy. Ever get the feeling monsters are for real?

John Sanford
John put out 'Rules of Prey' and has been on a roll since then. John produces cop stories like a cow produces milk. His cops chase down bad folks with a Dirty Harry attitude. Realistic? You be the judge. After George Floyd met Lucas Davenport I figured we'd seen the last of the Prey series. Now I'm left to wonder if folks on juries are reading about the exploits of Virgil Flowers while deliberating crimes. Gotta wonder what it'd be like to get pulled over by Lucas. Can ya imagine? 'You were doing 33 in a 30 pal. Reach for your DL slowly. You don't wanna make my day . . .'
I'm encountering snow in western Montana. Snow and ice and nothing nice is in the offing. I love Old Man Winter!
