And she finished up with this . . .

The worst advice my mother ever gave me was: Honesty is the best policy. It implied that other people are honest, which I've discovered, they're not.

Second Installment following Yesterday's Post

I wanted to teach my children: Never be loyal to any employer beyond doing the best work possible during the time you're employed, because they won't be loyal to you. It's the hardest lesson for young people to learn.

Final Advice

It was my privilege to sit down with a fine lady who was born between the Great Wars. She grew up on a dairy farm and saw to it that my patches were sewn on my uniform during my policing days. She has since passed. She said if she could do it over, she'd do it again, but more carefully. Tomorrow I'll share her second piece of advice.

Calling all Soldiers

It was my honor to have hung out with you. I hope I kept my promise to set the story straight.

Do We Get It?

War is about as bad as it gets! Pain and Suffering. Did 'Cows, Pigs, War and Witches' have it figured out all along? Video Games do not come with any sense of feelings.

Is Putin on The Mark?

Russian Citizens want to live in a safe environment. They want to avoid western style shoot 'em up and beat 'em with a hammer behavior. Paul Pelosi's attacker has validated some of what Putin stands for.

Nice

Received positive comments from a Minnesota Writer you may have heard of. William Kent Krueger. Many thanks. Agreed. The ending in 'The Last Gargoyle' is truly a surprise.

Another Undisputed Ruler

Ya can almost see Kim Jong-un's eyes widen when he see's what Western Arms are all about. Can you imagine how paranoid he must get? None verbally he's screaming . . . "I got rockets and nukes and stuff so be careful. I'll use them to repress my people. No wait. I mean to get them blowen up. No wait. To protect them. So don't think my toys are as bad as Putin's.

Shade

Every story I penned tosses shade on hatred. No matter the reason. No matter the source. I wrote 'em and I stand by them. Now go out and toss some kindness on this big bad world.

War

So when is enough . . . enough? Afghanistan to the Ukraine and tomorrow never knows.

Captured

Something about this picture that captures the moment we find ourselves living in. Read 'Never a Child' or 'A Rumor of War'. You'll thank me.

Remember

Life happens one day at a time. As Keith Koenic told me . . . "Any day above ground is a good day." He was a veteran of the Forgotten War. You can learn a lot listening to those who braved it all trying to add just one more day to their time on earth.

Bob Dylan and Company

them anti-war 'Hippies' were right all along. Way before their time. One wonders if Putin ever gets a piece of music stuck in his head like "where have all the soldiers gone?"

Manly Iowa

Long line of military vehicles are being loaded on a train in Iowa today. Who knows . . . perhaps a gift to Ukraine? Scary times.

I Support . . .

When someone puts a sign in the yard or slaps a bumper sticker on the car, pointing out, they support something I wonder. I mean do they support something by putting a sign in the window or what?

Great Investment

The Monarchy is a great business for Britain. Tourism. Stories galore. 2,800 diamonds in the Crown alone. Gotta love all the pomp and pageantry. I hung out with a guard in front of Buckingham Palace and got to witness a royal movement. Prince Andrew sped by in a car looking like a business man. I'd have preferred gold and fancy fabrics and such. I've never figured just what is so taxing about royal duties and walking around dressed up in goofy uniforms. I'm an American and don't get it I guess.

Tip-Toe back behind a decision and you'll discover cold hard cash every time.

Then as we seen in 'One Virus One Gift' personalities morph from the pot of gold. " Bank Accounts are the true measure of a human being.

War

Lot of money to be had in making war. Sorry to see it'll be around long after I'm gone. I was honored to be with folks who take time each week to protest war. No agenda. No nothing. While hanging out with these patriots we were flipped off by the very young people who would have to fight the war and dodge bullets. I'm sporting the tan pants by the way. My advice to you is to read The Bee Killer and see if you still feel the same way about organized killing as in war.

He's Back

Been a run and a half this year I tell ya. Great to be back. Lets make it interesting.

Ukraine

Met a film maker and a man off the frontlines in Ukraine yesterday. Sobering. I was told . . . "War takes it out of you". Gotta te...
