What is PTSD?
Post-traumatic Stress Disorder happens when an individual experiences a horrifying ordeal that involves physical harm or the threat of physical harm. The physical harm or threat could have happened to the individual with PTSD, or the individual could have witnessed it happen to a loved one or a stranger. PTSD was first brought to public attention in relation to war veterans but a variety of traumatic events can cause PTSD.
Curt, thanks for sharing. When I was a Correctional Officer it was mandatory we did welfare check on inmates classified with PTSD every 15 minutes. We had alot of them. Sometimes officers neglect that and we hear about suicides and lawsuits made by grieving families.
