Now John Conte, who Anthony Bourdain just happens to know, knows Curt Rude. Great time, great food and oh so much fun. That's what it's all about . . . isn't it? I love John for his creativity. I'm not uptight, snooty and promise never to be! His scallops and shrimp had me believing I'd died and went to heaven. Next time you hit Rockland, Maine, check him out. You wont be sorry!

Anthony Bourdain's visit was probably a blessing and a curse.  But the folks that  look to Bourdain for his opinion, visit Conte's and then complain about the place, I'd argue don't really understand what Bourdain was saying.  Bourdain is a guy that appreciates a gray's papaya dog or KFC mac n' cheese just as much as he appreciates classically prepared food.  He likes different foods for what they are.  He gets that Conte's is what it is and should be appreciated for the whole of what it is.  

If you are uptight , snooty and think you know it all, you won't enjoy this place.  If you can allow yourself to try and appreciate what it is Conte's is doing, you will LOVE this place.  Like I said, I go here every chance I get.

I've always felt it's the writers responsibility to turn out top notch stories, thus insuring, readers aren't wasting their time. Here's to hoping my readers aren't wasting their time.

Something New in New York

Will report on Hornell NY come Thursday I believe. We sat in the darkness and was told stories at 'The Cabin on the Lake' in 'Geneva on the Lake'. Tales were told of young kids fresh out of the Academy who were waiting to pouch. I encountered a Black and Tan Yuengling and the kitchen was opened for me. Thanks Cheryl, the burger saved me. Enjoy the book. Did you folks know that 60% of children give false confessions? Protect your young ones. They need to be immunized as well as made aware of just how to act around the Criminal Justice System.

The Phantom Book Tour . . . Just the Writer and the Readers!

Lets recap. Hit Chicago on the 30. Slipped into Indiana and landed in South Bend. The Legends Club of all places. Ran out of books. Ordered more for the planned get together on the coast. Oh wait. I stood on the Fighting Irish Shamrock. That must have me pointed in the right direction.


Have pictures of you all and will post when the computer behaves. Memorable concerns I've encountered so far . . . "No Police Allowed" stickers plastered on a podium. Or how about the shirt today . . . "We Smoke the Good Stuff on Sundays". Will know what Cleveland has to offer before long. Will be at the Cabin on the Lake. And in the end . . . it must be about the readers. I'm on the road and plan to share photos and tales from my experiences. For now . . . however . . . the computer doesn't seem to want that to happen. I'm in Indiana and out of books as I head to a Hoosier Reading Club. It is with determination, bordering on a demented state of mind, that I stagger forward.

Joe Arpaio and The Phoenix New Times

I've already scratched my head about what I suspected is narcissist behavior by Joe Arpaio. Four days ago the girlfriend of a businessman requested my assistance. She hadn't heard from her boyfriend who was in Scottsdale on business. She contacted Maricopa to possibly file a missing persons report and was told "Oh, he's in jail. That's all I can say though." This was after being on hold for 45 minutes listening to Sheriff Joe Promo Material. Stuff like 'My Jail is Always Open' and blah blah blah. No info was provided on the internet. No calls can be made to the jail. Just one recorded message after another. Once a Bail Bonds Person was contacted this man had to wait for another day and night after the bail was posted before getting out. That's the way the system is set up.

I called . . . same thing. Taped messages, no info and frustration. Remember before you condemn, this is a man who sat in jail for four days and three nights because of a traffic ticket. In this day and age of technology can't improvements be made?

Moral of the story . . . this 'system' needs to be modified. It ain't working in Arizona. We can only hope the Feds get it right. They are investigating this tough, hard as nails Sheriff. Remember ladies and gentlemen, Power Corrupts. If you never make mistakes and never ever forget I suppose you have nothing to worry about. If you aren't perfect or have an ounce of empathy then cross your fingers. Hope for improvements or even get involved.

After waltzing around this thing called life I realized this pathetic truth. Of course, the world is full of wicked, self-serving hennas, but it's the nasty, sneaky weasels that do far more damage. You can usually find 'em sitting towards the front of church come Sunday. One would hope they are seeking an 'out' for their sins but who knows?

Today's example? How about the twelve year old kids who lured their 'friend' into a park for a fun little game of hide and seek. They got their 'friend' into a restroom to stab her. I heard one report claiming it was 19 times and another reporter claiming it was 22.  Just think. Tomorrow never knows but it's coming and it ain't gonna be pretty.

I suppose a good description of 'Paradise' is anywhere but here. Until then, be very careful out there. Live and Learn! 

Aaron Hernandez can't afford a Legal Defense any longer. The Prosecution remains fully funded.

After spending nearly a year behind bars and dealing with an ever-growing list of legal issues, former Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez apparently is running out of cash. Rankin and Sullivan, along with Michael Fee, have served as Hernandez’s primary counsel.  Rankin and Sullivan have notified the court they may have to withdraw from the case. Fee has not filed a similar motion.

On the one hand, something doesn’t feel right about lawyers bleeding a millionaire dry and then cutting him lose when he’s out of money.  On the other hand, lawyers will end up being out of money if they work for free.

1. Thanks to NBC Sports for the above article. In a nut shell. If Rankin and Sullivan can swoop in and bankrupt a millionaire, how long would it take them to do it to you or me?
2. Just what did they do to warrant the millions they've already made here?
3. If the State Prosecutes, should the State not defend equally in the interest of fairness? Consideration and oversight regarding fees must be in place to protect each and everyone of us from the judiciary. If it's all about fairness doesn't this make sense? 

Be the Beacon

This book was sent to me by the very kind author to review. Once I got used to the American dialect, I loved Brand of Justice. It was a very good story, that could so easily have been true. It was well thought out with very good, solid characters. The idea of Tinkey was up too was brilliant, and then to 'rig' the court case so drastically was a great inclusion. This book had a few surprise twists in the tale and I was encaptured all the way through.

Oh them Coen brothers nailed it on the last episode of Fargo. Did anyone happen to catch how easily Lester Nygaard set up Chaz to be arrested? Brand of Justice anyone? I'm telling you, them Coen brothers are right on the mark. I just got back from out west by the way. Thanks be for Fargo.

That's What it's all about . . .

I was thanked for writing JusThis by a woman who had been raped by a police officer. She thanked me for not forgetting the victims of criminal sexual conduct.

A university student notified me she was stopped by a police officer in North Platte Nebraska. The officer wanted to search her vehicle and she said absolutely not. The officer asked what she was hiding. She said nothing but she had read Brand of Justice and knows she doesn't have to be searched.

A huge welcome to my readers. This is what it's all about. You made my day.
