Some lingering thoughts on Walter Scott

This about sums it up for me as told to Yahoo News . . .

A civilized society must strive to treat all fairly and with the minimal amount of force necessary. Suggesting the Police can and should kill those who do not cooperate with them is unfair to both, the citizens and those sworn to serve and protect them. I can't fathom how some can rationalize that a man, who is not perfect, can be shot to death like this. Would the same standard apply to a 12 year old who has been convicted of shoplifting bubble gum?12 year olds can run faster than Walter Scott. No officer, who does not consider the use of force continuum, is merely doing his/her job. We have standards for our professional law enforcement community. It's what makes them professionals. This was a horrible incident plain and simple and should not of happened.

Readers of this Blog not surprised Police Credibility was going to get hammered by Technology.

Curt Rude ·  Top Commenter · Storyteller at Retired Law Enforcement
Our system of justice is based on the concept of telling the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Yeah right . . . Mayor Keith Summey has ordered 150 body cams so every officer on the street will have one. Talk about a loss of credibility. Be confusing today playing 'Cops and Robbers'. The good guy was always the kid who had the badge, don't work like that no more.

The Court of Public Opinion, Amanda Knox and Officer Slater's Defense Strategy

Police Misconduct + The System + Court of Public Opinion = The Injustice System.

We all seen the shooting. Then the cover-up attempt. We've considered these matters on this Blog long before Walter Scott was gunned down. Near as I can tell, the defense is gonna go like this . . .

Officer Slater feared Scott had something in his hand and thus he had to affect an arrest. He tossed the taser next to the cuffed body to keep an eye on it. Will a Grand Jury be called? Out of political necessity it has to. Will a jury, educated by watching countless episodes of NCIS and Criminal Minds buy it? I'm thinking it's a big-time possibility. So you 'Grand Pardoners of all Things Police', hang in there, he could get off.

The above matter relates to Misconduct and The System. Now this matter has reared its ugly head. The Court of Public Opinion usually based on media accounts. A panel of judges convened and considered the matter of Amanda Knox. The evidence was slip sod, Amanda was brutalized in the media and the Prosecutor should be prosecuted. Anyways . . . I get the following feedback. Call me Stunned and Seething for a reason. Anyways, way to go Amanda! You fought the Injustice System and prevailed.

Are you kidding. She is as guilty as if she actually did it because she knows waaaay more than she tells.

  • Ellie Dubelu ·  Top Commenter · Green Bay, Wisconsin
Gee Curt...even lawyers and lawmakers with a conscience can't clean up the Criminal Justice System. Nice to put that all on little Amanda's shoulders just because she beat the rap. Her and Casey Anthony should "pal" around with "OJ" and "Robert Blake"....their own little support group.

Officer Slager types aren't mentioned on CSI or Criminal Minds but they show up in Brand of Justice and JusThis!

Think about how jurors are educated, from watching TV or reading John Sanford or CJ Box books. Everyone is indoctrinated into the believe system that cops are the Marshal Dillion's of the world, the good guys who are laying in wait to take a bullet for us. We've been discussing attitudes, the System and how it protects those who protect us, media and The Court of Public Opinion. How cops feel they are above and not of those they serve and protect. This is like the forth shooting in the last couple of months. The cop shot the man 8 times and was thinking fast on his feet. He said the man had grabbed his taser so he quickly tossed it next to Walter Scott.

Then that thing we've been considering on this blog, that thing called technology bared it's fangs of reality. I learned something in all those years of wearing a badge. Lets hope the lesson here for law enforcement isn't to better hide their actions but to be better Cops!

Kinda makes you wonder about: Micheal Brown, Travon Martin, Eric Garner and good old Lt Josey punching the woman in the face. Yes sir, power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely until technology starts delivering disturbing images that change our preconceived notions. Mine were changed a long time ago as evidenced in my stories. Be careful. They're out there.

Uber Cab Driver Threatened by NYPD / Teenagers threatened by Minneapolis Police

Fact: Detective Cherry says 'I don't know what planet f---ing planet your on right now", bangs the side of the car and you get the picture. Oh, he also said something about arresting him but the driver wasn't important enough. Here's the link A Detective at his best. (I hope not.)

A cop source says "It was determined that Cherry was just discourteous." Doesn't it feel kinda like Detective Cherry is committing Disorderly Conduct? (A Criminal Violation)

Fact: Minneapolis Officer Rod Webber tells teenagers on a traffic stop, "F--ck with me, I'll break your leg". An Officer at his best. (I hope not.)

The PD isn't commenting. Is the probable cause for this stop going to be discovered? What was the justification for the search? Why were the boys held for 45 minutes? Can threatening someone with a broken leg be considered an assault? (A Criminal Violation?) If ya love cops, don't worry about it. I pointed out how the system protects itself in JusThis. Webber will be warned and that'll be it. He'll also learn to look for cameras in the future before threatening kids.

The attitude on display by both these officers was detailed in Brand of Justice as follows . . .

“We can make this easy, or we can make this h-a-r-d. I have asked you a simple question and you’ll be so kind to as to start answering. Okay? Or don’t you speak Wyoming?” The officer had slowed his speaking down to a crawl and was lowering his voice with each word. He was putting on skin tight black leather gloves, the kind, without fingers.
Tinkeys’ thoughts on how to be nice had rendered him deaf for the moment. The sudden opening of his door woke him from his fear induced numbness. He was plenty scared all right, but even more, he was bound and determined to catch up to the situation.
“Who is the RO of this vehicle? I need ID. Registration. Proof of Insurance. C’mon! Let’s go. Let’s not act as stupid as we could be. I don’t wanna repeat myself. Come on, you boys is dumber than a scoop shovel, I swear—let’s kick up some ID, on the double. Any weapons I need to know about in this vee-hick-all? Any bombs, drugs or alcohol? Have you been drinking, boys? Or are you both always deaf and dumb?”

Ray Hinton & David Ranta. The story remains the same.

Fact - It wasn't until last year -- after evidence emerged that Scarcella and Chmil had fabricated evidence and coached witnesses during the trial -- that Ranta was freed. He had spent just over 23 years in a maximum-security prison outside Buffalo. The day he was released, Ranta suffered a heart attack, from which he later recovered.

Fiction (Brand of Justice) “So you hear? That prosecutor done gone and set you up. They, the cops, have it figured Toppan did it. They got all kinds of evidence . . . man. Knife was in the truck, Rogers blood on it, everything. They call that a misprision of justice or something . . . Dub.”

Fact - “When you think you are high and mighty and you are above the law, you don’t have to answer to nobody. But I got news for them, everybody who played a part in sending me to death row, you will answer to God,” Ray Hinton said.

Fiction (JusThis) Corruption is and always has been imbedded into the fabric of governmental systems. When a simple truth is revealed that might be construed as threatening, action is quickly taken to silence the voice of truth. The status quo must be maintained. Words are used to confuse and impede. The reins of power are held tightly in the hands of a few privileged individuals.

Is it Truth or is it, Fiction? You be the judge. I wonder if the players in the system will ever feel remorse? Ray Hinton seems to think so.

Amanda Knox and Curt Rude are motivated by the same beast . . . I wish her success!

I told my stories to highlight problems with the Criminal Injustice System. I can't help but applaud Amanda Knox for wanting to be a part of the solution! Many thanks Amanda!

Any Fool can give advice and all Fools will follow it.

I received some advice in a round-about-way regarding snow, work and the cold. Get pointed towards Arizona. I did courtesy of Delta Airlines and Enterprise Car Rentals. I landed in a canyon, to play and enjoy 80 degree weather. 'Nice' as Frank would say. The adventure continues . . .

Colorado's Chautauqua Park & Fearless Whitney with 'Fangs' the Rattlesnake!

Nestled under the Flat Irons is one cool place to: hike, learn, picnic and just plain enjoy the gardens. There is also an Event Center on site. It is basically one hell of a place to hangout. Whitney the rattlesnake tamer clings to the beast for this shameless plug of Brand of Justice. Hey . . . what can I say? You folks picked up a copy get the Rattlesnake reference. Oh, no one, not Whitney, me or the reptile were injured. I'm thinking I'm gonna hang out in Colorado for a good long time. I'll have to be dragged back to the snow kicking and screaming.

You Can Learn a lot Reading this Blog

Scroll down a couple of posts ago to March 23. The FBI figured Henry Solis was holed up in Texas and I said NO, he hit for Mexico.

Debra Milke persecuted by lying Scum aka Detective Saldate

'As Always Anonymous' posted the following question on my blog the other day . . . I'm posting it here cause it could be important. Take a second and read it before clinking the link below.

Just think, some of you want Jodi Arias to be put to death by this system of justice.

    Well Yea, Why Not??????????????????

A jury of her peers found her Guilty as Charged while a whole bunch of people in 2 juries say yes, but a lone hold out with an agenda has forced a pause in the punishment she deserves for murdering her lover.

Send her to Utah to face a firing squad.

    As Always Anonymous

I wrote a fictional account (Brand of Justice) of a story Debra Milke lived. Lying scum, Detective Saldate, was believed over Milke by an informed jury of her peers. She languished for 22 years on death row for a crime she didn't commit! You cannot have a Criminal Injustice System lord over life or death decisions. Listen to this lady, who hails out of Arizona where Jodi is from. She had to put up with all the pundits who wanted to just kill her and be done with it because a 'Jury' did in fact find her guilty.

The Criminal Injustice System is like a puddle of urine that has flowed to a neighborhood near you.

Imagine . . . Delta, Airbus and Me!

So I'm layin' low in Rochester at the Home Wood. Great place by the way. I'm writing my butt off and am ready to roll to Utah and beyond tomorrow and find out I'm on a Airbus. Not a good fib here. Get me off the thing please. How about First Class? No that won't do, I'd rather be castrated with a plastic fork than to fly one of them things. Well I'm headed out west as they say and you thought I didn't care fore my readers. I'm on an Airbus.

    Officers can't find Officer!

$25,000 on his head and still no takers. This former marine and officer with the LAPD guns down a guy and disappears a couple of days ago. FBI is guessing he's in Texas. Officer Solis way better at being on the run than old Officer Chris Dorner ever was; he was tracked down, assassinated and buried all in a matter of days.

They always say, you can run but ya can't hid. Or was that? . . . The long arm of the law will get you.

Lets see here, I say he jumped the border and is holed up in Mexico. So who's right? Curt Rude or the FBI? I trained at the FBI Academy so we'll see. Little friendly rivalry here - only time will tell.

The Song remains The Same . . .

Ann Bilansky was killed on this day in 1860 by Minnesota.

The Media condemned her in this to say, "Bad enough to be a harlot and bold enough to be a murderer." Hangings must sell papers.

The prosecutor didn't figure she had a fair trial. It didn't matter after the conviction what he thought. The System smelled blood.

The public was skittish about the criminal justice and thus Governor Ramsey wanted a hanging.

In the days before her death, petitioners urging that Ramsey commute her sentence included the prosecutor, Isaac Heard, who said he had "grave and serious doubts'' about whether Bilansky had a fair trial, and Supreme Court Justice Charles E. Flandreau, who participated in the opinion denying her a new trial. Flandreau wrote that while he supported the death penalty, "it rather shocks my private sense of humanity to commence by inflicting the extreme penalty on a woman.''
In an excellent article on the case in Minnesota History magazine, author Matthew Cecil noted that Gov. Ramsey must have heard arguments for Bilansky's guilt from his brother, Justus, who had been on the jury and who was in business with the governor. Cecil also notes that commuting the sentence would be "likely to anger a public skittish about criminal justice.''
This is what the lady said before she was hung . . . “I die without having had any mercy shown me, or justice. I die for the good of my soul, and not for murder. . . . Your courts of justice are not courts of justice—but I will yet get justice in Heaven.” . . . and the song remain the same. Just think, some of you want Jodi Arias to be put to death by this system of justice.

One of The Bravest! Doug and Marcie

Doug and Marcie messaged me from Texas. A pair of brave 'cats' here! They included a photo of themselves. I am nearing a 100,000 hits on this blog and it's usually someone named anonymous who messages me. Marcie by the way is putting the finishing touches on a manuscript with 'cats' as characters. Who knows . . . perhaps Mike from Arizona will ship me off a photo. He's just crawling with story lines involving historical non-fiction.

I Love L.A. and Punxsutawney Phil is innocent.

Now. Now. Here's the deal . . . Brand of Justice relates how the police make honest mistakes and the media follow along. Read this silly piece. Didja spot the boo-boo? It was a gopher driving Bill Murray nuts in Caddyshack. They're after the wrong rodent. I'm tellin' ya, it happens more than you'd like to think.

New Hampshire police to Punxsutawney Phil: Paws up, varmint!

MERRIMACK, N.H. (AP) -- Police in snow-swamped New Hampshire are hunting for Public Enemy No. 1: The suspect is described as short and furry with brown eyes and big, pointy teeth.
Looking to lighten the mood after a series of snowstorms, Merrimack police posted a gag on their Facebook page asking the public to rat out Punxsutawney Phil, the Pennsylvania groundhog who last week predicted six more weeks of winter.
"We have received several complaints from the public that this little varmint is held up in a hole, warm and toasty," said the posting that was accompanied by an image of the mischievous groundhog from the movie "Caddyshack." "He told several people that Winter would last 6 more weeks, however he failed to disclose that it would consist of mountains of snow!"
Police Chief Mark Doyle said the idea came during a conversation with Lt. Denise Roy as they shook their heads over the three major storms that have thumped New England since Jan. 27.
"We were chatting about how sick and tired we were, and she came up with the idea," Doyle said. "Everybody is looking at it for what it is: a tongue-in-cheek, lighthearted look at the winter we're having in the Northeast."
Doyle has heard from good citizens that Phil may be in Canada with Sasquatch. Others say the critter was spotted in New Orleans with a fistful - pawful? - of Mardi Gras beads.
It's not the first time Phil's gotten in trouble with the law: Officials in Ohio in 2013 "indicted" him for misrepresentation of spring, a felony "against the peace and dignity of the state."
On the New Hampshire Facebook page, Phil is described as "armed and dangerous." Doyle says if he gets his hands on the wily woodchuck, he's got the perfect sentence in mind:
"Life in the hole without parole," he said.

Chris Rock & How Not to Get Thumped

You can learn a lot from a Comedian!

Question from the mailbox . . . Two Mower County jailers have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation into an alleged incident.
“We’re in the process of investigating an issue that involved these two,” said County Coordinator Craig Oscarson, who confirmed Tuesday that the two jailers were on leave.
Due to data practice laws, Oscarson could not release the jailers’ names or details about the alleged incident. He said more details likely won’t be made available until the matter is entirely resolved.

So is this a new story line for you?

An educated guess here, I'm thinking they were probably in the process of making little jailers in the ol' broom closet. And to think, Data Practices was all about doing away with Nixon Cover-ups. Now they are the cover-up. This story line has been told and retold. Many thanks for sharing.

Questions regarding Henry Solis . . . Los Angels Police Department . . . and the State of our Police State.

Okay. So those who are sworn to serve and protect us have to pass some kind of mental evaluation-right? Chris Dorner went bonkers. Now we have Henry Solis shooting a guy after leaving a Night Club. Both these guys represent LA's finest. Couple of questions here.

First . . . the mental health practitioners aren't exactly batting a 1000%. Striking out is more like it. I mean they just gave this guy a recommendation as in his fitness for duty exam during the hiring process. He was only on the force seven months.

Second . . . why does the law enforcement community always have to pull the wool over our eyes? Take this comment regarding Solis after he gunned down a guy. Shoots him five times. You get the picture. “He was a good officer, as far as we know,” LAPD Lt. Ronald McDonald told the Times. “Whatever happened, happened.” Lincoln answers the Lieutenant best . . . Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.
Third . . . who is going to protect us from our protectors?
Fourth . . . if these guys are LA's finest what do the worst look like?

    Seeing is Believing

People who hit up my blog know where I stand on the issue of protestors. The point is, can't we agree to disagree and respect the other ...
