So here goes. You have an off-duty police officer who is involved in a fatal car vs pedestrian. The gruesome scene is what officers experiance from time to time. Then the incident is further personified when the officer realizes he knows the individual he has just struck.

Prologue

It was a typically dreary Halloween evening, full of warning of a winter soon to arrive in all its wind-driven glory. Driving fast, perhaps too fast in the cold blowing rain, Martin felt things could be made right. A sickening thud and a shattered windshield brought him back from his obsessive thoughts.

“Christ!” he thought. “A deer? Not a kid—god, not a kid or a trick-or-treater.”

Life suddenly downshifted from fast forward to slow motion. The screeching of tires seemed to last forever.

Martin leaped from the car, unable to deny the reality of what he was seeing. His eyes pulled him toward the carnage and a gruesome spectacle, the result of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

A large, bloody mass lay in a twisted, morbid position. Ribs, blown from the chest cavity and pointing toward the cold, uncaring sky while holding the torso up in a macabre fashion, met his gaze. What seemed to be a never-ending pool of gore engulfed the scene. Thick globs of meaty paste were spattered everywhere.

Martin’s shock-numbed mind told him to check for vitals, but his police training told him that would be foolish—the reaction of the sort of untrained, stupid civilians who were the butt of cop jokes. No, this spectacle that had once been a woman, a daughter, or maybe a mother, was now a bloody puddle of steaming meat and broken bones. Without even realizing it, he had stepped on a chunk of waxy yellow fat that clung to the sole of his shoe. This pile—a former living, breathing person—was giving up its warmth to the cold, indifferent night. The skull had been split in two from the force of the impact and the eyes pointed in different directions and seemed to be observing, but not comprehending.

Martin thought about the size of the impending lawsuit, but then thought of the meat scattered all over the road. Lawsuits, meat, blood. He even thought of how the blood always reminded him of gutting a deer. Thoughts were screaming through his adrenalin-fueled mind without any real direction or order.

He must have been in shock to be thinking so wildly. Christ, what next? He was brought back to the present by a woman screaming that she had called 911.

“Do you need anything else?” she called out.

“Yeah,” he thought, “I need to get away.”

It was like that airline commercial he saw while watching games on Sundays. He needed to get a long god damned way from that mess!

Martin couldn't believe fate had put his sorry ass into such a situation. Such things were supposed to happen to other sorry-ass bastards. He wasn’t a cop just doing his job and looking for clues at the scene of a 10-54 fatal traffic accident. He’d been the driver.

Jesus Christ, it was different being the driver and not just a wise-ass cop on the scene. Oh, for Christ’s sake, he had worked thousands of accidents, but never thought it would happen to him.

He found himself thinking, “Let this be some kind of dream.”

But it wasn't, and Martin, locked in a staring contest with the woman’s dying eyes, suddenly realized that he had looked into those eyes before.

A Hawk on Muslim Policy?

So I'm asked if Imma Hawk in regards to foreign policy toward the Muslim Community. Then here I am at a mosque, and low and behold, a hawk lands on the cresent moon. Kinda makes ya wonder.

As per yesterdays post, yes, it was big time excessive use of force. Chief stands by the 'man' in uniform who went off his nut. . . which as a professional he is paid not too. 115 pound Michaella Surat has no doubt been pummeled with charges after the body slamming. City will let it all blow over and settle quietly. Charges will be dropped. Officer Bruno will be given a medal. Everyones happy.

Folks in Fort Collins, talk to your kids, thugs done took over your Police Dept! Your daughters ain't safe on the streets of Colorado I tell ya.

But remember, Officers in Fresno California arrested an armed suspect after he shot three white men.

Now I ask. . . great police work? Now we can ascertain whether this is terror related or not.

Seeing&Believing

Okay, so Steve Stephens kills a man and them himself. These comments are the end result. . .'I guess black lives matter only if a white cop is involved.' 'Shocked BLM hasn't somehow blamed this on society and the white man.' 'Black on black and no comment from BLM ... unless cops are the killers.' How about it's a tragedy and we're still holding our public servants accountable. This will result in superior policing which benefits us all. Check out Click&Learn and see if you don't agree.

One Helluva Fireworks Display

Let's see here, 59 Missiles at just north of a million apiece, the Russians were warned, who inturn let the Syrians know. They scoot while getting equipment outta there. Planes are already using the runway. The rest of the world watched and did not pay a dime. Many places ask for offerings for July Fourth Displays. I'm thinking we could have fired bottle rockets at 'em from a drone. Would have acomplished the same thing much cheaper. 

The Fox has landed in The White House

As I peek at the comments I see politics seems to be on every ones mind. Here's the deal, lawyers produce nothing but arguments. It's what they're paid to do. Produce nothing but arguments. Business men are producers and search for results. Lawyers have invaded D.C. at every level. Whether as Lobbiest, Law Makers or Judges. So you see, feathers are getting ruffled in the Hen House called D.C.  

My Book Sleeve would Read something like This

This story will interest those who long to understand the pain and suffering found in the Middle East

Though one can never condone the actions of a suicide bomber, my novel attempts to understand the person behind the violence. What are the individual complexities and internal conflicts that drive such destructive behavior? I sought to understand these issues by giving a voice to a potential suicide bomber.

The Boy in The Vest is 106,292 words long and takes place in war-torn Afghanistan. After losing his father, Yushua struggles to provide for his family. Water flows from communal taps and wood must be gathered for heat and cooking. When old enough, he is enrolled to receive religious instruction. After the Americans arrive, things take a turn for the better. Yushua gets involved supplying Americans with the only thing Afghanistan has plenty of—heroin. The arrangement works well until an American soldier uses his military advantage in a deadly double-cross. Yushua loses not only family members, but his mentor. This is a devastating loss. The death must be avenged even though the soldier disappeared back to his homeland. Obstacles abound, but Yushua’s martyrdom operation is on track until love derails it.

The author is a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA, where it was stressed that there are two sides to every story. This, and the insights acquired during his career in law enforcement, were what drew him to research the modern phenomenon of the suicide bomber, and played a considerable role in the telling of this story. His findings and conclusions may seem implausible, but the tragic reality is that the experiences he writes about in The Boy in the Vest have happened, and continue to happen.

Mr. Rude has self-published two novels, one regarding police misconduct, JusThis, and one about wrongful incarcerations, Brand of Justice. Reviews of the books can be found on Amazon and Goodreads. After writing these books, Mr. Rude appeared on the Fox affiliate in Minneapolis/St Paul and was interviewed on several radio programs.

I get the feeling money is a driver in justice or lack there of.	Justice for some but not for all, that seems to be the more common theme in our country. How many people could make false claims and break laws and not be held accountable? There are some that it appears are above the law. Kicking a Girl when she's Down

We all have an inkling that all's not well with our Criminal Justice System in the good old United States. Stuff like; iffy cop shootings, false arrests, malicious prosecutions, wrongful incarcerations and on and on and on. So the daughter of a nonviolent drug dealer who is serving life in prison wants to reunite her family - right? So there are 'those people' who have long since been divorced from any empathy what-so-ever and get to tossing around negative comments. Wow. My Hero of The Week is. . .

Julian Assange. Information is power and this hero provides it to the masses big time. I know some of you my think he is a big fat loser but I can assure you, he is not over weight and he is in it for you. Lawyers have over run D.C. but Julian keeps us appraised of the shenanigans.

Just an example for you'all regards an Native American gal who wanted to do something good. She went on stage for Marlon Brando and read a statement. . . One interesting effect of the brouhaha was that it may have stopped the U.S. government from ordering additional military intervention that would have been highly destructive. Littlefeather's appearance did bring Wounded Knee back into the spotlight; at that point, the siege had been going on only about a month, but the government instituted a media blackout, which in the short-attention-span TV culture of the United States meant that the siege wasn't getting a lot of attention itself. Littlefeather's appearance brought the siege back into the public eye, which meant that now the government had to be much more careful about how they responded to the siege.

Before you step outside your life to do something bold read on. . . While Littlefeather tried to continue acting, she eventually stopped because of the effects of her appearance at the Oscars.

There ya have it.
