In John Sandford's latest Virgil Flowers novel, Escape Clause, this passage is found on page 238. These are two folks discussing a cop.
"You're telling me to be careful," Virgil said.
"I'm telling you to be careful for her," Bill said. "There's a violence inside her that might be looking for a way to get out."
"That's true of a lot of cops," Virgil said. "It might even be necessary."
So is this passage truth of fiction? Consider all the police beatings and what not we have been experiancing. Yikes.
