Fargo and The Coen brothers.

Oh them Coen brothers nailed it on the last episode of Fargo. Did anyone happen to catch how easily Lester Nygaard set up Chaz to be arrested? Brand of Justice anyone? I'm telling you, them Coen brothers are right on the mark. I just got back from out west by the way. Thanks be for Fargo.

That's What it's all about . . .

I was thanked for writing JusThis by a woman who had been raped by a police officer. She thanked me for not forgetting the victims of criminal sexual conduct.

A university student notified me she was stopped by a police officer in North Platte Nebraska. The officer wanted to search her vehicle and she said absolutely not. The officer asked what she was hiding. She said nothing but she had read Brand of Justice and knows she doesn't have to be searched.

A huge welcome to my readers. This is what it's all about. You made my day.

Austin Powers said it best.

Now. Now. Seems like some issues have evolved on this site releasing a certain passion or perhaps ire. Lets be civil as we proceed. As Austin Powers said . . . "Oh behave."

Your Attention Please

A police officer is told he isn't under an arrest but is followed out of an interview and tailed by a DCI Agent for seven blocks. Officer Ellenbecker of Forest City Iowa, shows the Agent he’s armed and is ordered to come back to the DCI Agent but for some reason flees. Ellenbecker ends up getting shot in the leg by the agent and is transported to the hospital where agents commence with relentlessly interviewing Ellenbecker. Ellenbecker argued that his confession was coerced out of him after he was medicated. The Appeals Court sided with him. If a police officer is tricked out of his rights and improperly treated by agents of the criminal justice system, ask yourself . . . what could they do to you and yours?

Cowan Award Winner

I made the most out of the opportunity to meet James A. Zarzana who is the 2014 Cowan Award Winner. He hails out of one of my old haunts, Sacramento California. We shared some moments regarding writing and the directions it has taken us. He is a fellow world traveler who also ended up in London. In a nutshell, our exchange boiled down to a shared passion for writing and creativity.

Dr Zarzana's book, The Marsco Dissident is a gritty look at a dystopian society where democracy and the rule of law have failed a world where science has been co-opted to support a ruling oligarchy. It is a world where chaos, disease, and poverty dictate the conditions of most people's lives. A believable world that has a sense of inevitability.

I appreciated the 'feel' his writing generates. You see, my writing involves a world where the law has also failed. Peace my friends, please enjoy whatever moments come your way today.

Jodie Picoult on 1st Amendment Rights

First and foremost, it's all about Freedom of Speech. People from all walks of life should carefully scrutinize this video. Authors are usually very sensitive regarding matters of free speech and expression. I thought Jodie Picoult blew off William Baer's 1st Amendment Rights while responding to this video.

Mike . . . The Chicagoland Reviewer.

I was 4 pages from the point I told you I thought I had the ending figured out. I got two things right, the victim and the ******.
I guess that comes from your style of writing and reading your first book.
Good story, good characters, nice dialogue, a little hard to follow unless you can get into western swing.
The music was a nice touch, however I did not see where each song matched the mood of the chapter. Maybe it was not my kind of music, but I did not feel they set the scene for ****** or ****** with a train.
The story is put together well, but I did not get hooked on reading it cover to cover without stopping, as I think I needed a little time to take it in and try an figure Who Done It.
Having your main character go to cop school was a nice touch and it added drama to the plot. I like that aspect of the story. I may have liked more storyline of the girlfriend. I understand it was not about SEX, but I think a broader look at the love angle would have added a little to ******. He could have reasoned that someday he might have to protect her and his offspring from the court system, ****** righting wrongs.
I give you both thumbs up and my two pinkies up too. So two big ones and 2 small ones for your efforts.

What key issues emerge from reading your novels?

JusThis highlights the sense of entitlement experienced by a man who obtains a position of trust in the community he serves. Power once again corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Brand of Justice regards matters resulting after the Criminal Justice System coerces a false confession resulting in a wrongful conviction.

Another Day . . . Another Review!

Brand of Justice blew me away (no pun intended)!! It was so different from anything I've ever read before, and the last 1/3 of it kept me on the edge of my seat, unable to put it down, until I finished it!! Winning this book from Goodreads has had no bearing on my review whatsoever.

Hallie Kifer & Nick Brady paid the ultimate sacrifice for being teenagers. Byron Smith is guilty for stealing their lives.

RIP Your smiles will forever haunt us.

So Byron Smith puts Hallie Kifer & Nick Brady to death . . .

Two teenagers break into a house and are assassinated. Byron Smith admits to this and claims to be only defending himself. I mean it's terrible, a teenage, unarmed girl walks down into the basement and is gunned down. Nick's grandfather states that he believes in the system. Here's to hoping the system get's it correctly, because I know. Improvements are needed.

Everyone loses, two kids, their life. Mr. Smith, his peace of mind.
